Cape Town has the most sublime winters. When the tourists have ascended to their respective homelands, when the South Easter has died down, when the temperature has cooled from simmeringly hot to mildly frosty, Cape Town becomes a peaceful haven with spectacularly calm, magical days. Mid-winter the light is so gentle throughout the day that you can take photographs at midday without that bright shrillness. Waves are plentiful and largely uncrowded and for the most part the South Easter that is usually pumping has given way for a much more pleasant breeze, if any. These are a collection of images in celebration of the past winter that was.
